PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

The drug Vetfloxacin belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group: naphthyridine derivatives, quinolones, fluoroquinolones.

Levofloxacin in the drug formulation has a bactericidal effect on aerobic bacteria (gram-positive: Enterococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. and gram-negative: Acinetobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Haemophilus ducreyi, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella spp., Moraxella catarrhalis β+/β-, Morganella morganii, Pasteurella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Providencia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Salmonella spp., Serratia spp ); anaerobic bacteria: Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium perfringens, Fusobacterium spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.; and other bacteria: Chlamydia pneumoniae, Chlamydia psittaci, Mycobacterium spp., Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Ricketsia spp..

The mechanism of levofloxacin effect is associated with the blockade of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, violation of superspiralization and crosslinking of deoxyribonucleic acid breaks, inhibition of deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis, deep metabolic changes in the cytoplasm, cell wall and membranes of bacteria.

Levofloxacin is rapidly and almost completely absorbed after oral administration. The intake of feed has little effect on the speed and completeness of absorption. The bioavailability of levofloxacin after oral administration is 99%; the concentration in the blood serum reaches a maximum 2 hours after application, the half-life is about 7 hours. It is excreted from the organism mainly by the kidneys.

Vetafloxacin, according to the degree of exposure to the organism, refers to low-risk substances.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

Administer the drug orally, once a day for 3-5 days in the following doses: in calves, lambs, pigs: 0.5 ml per 10 kg of animal weight; in broiler chickens, replacement chickens, and turkeys: 5 ml per 10 liters of drinking water.

In these cases, it is necessary to stop using the drug. There are no specific means of detoxification, general measures aimed at removing the drug from the body and means of symptomatic therapy are used.

Simultaneous use of the drug with antacids containing magnesium and aluminum, as well as with preparations containing iron salts is not allowed due to a possible decrease in the adsorption of levofloxacin in the gastrointestinal tract of the animal.

The recommended time interval between taking the drug Vetfloxacin and the above medicines should be at least two hours.

Simultaneous use of the drug Vetfloxacin with glucocorticoids is prohibited due to an increased risk of tendinitis and / or tendon rupture, as well as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, tetracyclines and macrolides due to an increase in the toxic effect of levofloxacin.

When used simultaneously with vitamin K antagonists, the risks of bleeding increase. Taking this into account, it is necessary to monitor coagulation indicators. It is not recommended to use the drug simultaneously with ethanol.

The peculiarities of the usage during the first application and upon cancellation of the drug were not revealed.
