Geptrolux tablets for medium and large breed dogs contains in 1 tablet per 15 kg of body weight as active ingredients: ademetionine 1,4-butanedisulfonate 199.5 mg (equivalent to ademetionine 105 mg), sodium glycyrrhizinate 3 mg, and excipients.

The drug is made in a form of a white or light brown tablet. The presence of a yellowish tint and yellow-brown inclusions is allowed.

Ademethionine has choleretic and cholekinetic effects, has detoxifying, regenerating, antioxidant, antifibrosing and neuroprotective properties. It replenishes the deficiency of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (ademethionine) and stimulates its production in the organism, it is contained in all body environments. It plays a key role in the metabolic processes of the body, takes part in important biochemical reactions, including the synthesis of nucleic acids, proteins, hormones. It provides the redox mechanism of cellular detoxification, coenzyme A. It increases the content of glutamine in the liver, cysteine and taurine in plasma and reduces the content of methionine in serum, normalizing metabolic reactions in the liver. It stimulates cell regeneration and proliferation of hepatocytes, reduces the risk of fibrosis. Ademethionine reduces the toxicity of bile acids in the hepatocyte, increases the solubility of bile acids and their excretion from the hepatocyte. In animals with diffuse liver diseases (cirrhosis, hepatitis) with intra-hepatic cholestasis syndrome, ademethionine reduces the severity of itching and changes in biochemical parameters, including the concentration of direct bilirubin, the activity of alkaline phosphatase, aminotransferases, etc. It is effective for hepatopathies caused by various hepatotoxic drugs.

Sodium glycyrrhizinate has an anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates the production of interferons, enhances phagocytosis, increases the activity of natural killer cells. It has a hepatoprotective effect due to its antioxidant and membrane-stabilizing activity. It potentiates the action of endogenous glucocorticosteroids, providing anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects in non-infectious liver lesions.

In case of skin lesions, due to the membrane-stabilizing and anti-inflammatory action, it limits the spread of the process and contributes to the regression of the disease.

After ingestion, ademethionine and sodium glycyrrhizinate are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in the form of starting compounds and pharmacologically active hydrolysis products, are well distributed in the animal's organism, penetrate into the liver, skin and other organs.

Geptrolux in tablets is used in dogs and cats with intrahepatic cholestasis, occurred in the following diseases: hepatic steatosis, chronic hepatitis, hepatotoxicity of various etiology, including viral, blood protozoan, drug-induced liver injury (including those resulting from the use of antibacterial, antitumor, and antiviral drugs); with chronic acalculous cholecystitis, cholangitis, cirrhosis of the liver, and encephalopathy (including those associated with liver failure).

Geptrolux in tablets is used to treat cognitive dysfunction syndrome in pets. The drug is also used in animals to recover from severe illnesses, operations, and intoxication, to increase the overall resistance of the body.

For animals weighing over 60 kg, the drug is used for 1 tablet for medium and large dogs for every 15 kg of animal weight.

The course of application is 14-30 days, depending on the individual characteristics of the body and the nature of the course of the disease. If necessary, according to the instructions of the veterinarian, the drug can be resumed after 10 days. In the chronic course of the disease, the course of treatment is repeated several times a year. It is possible to use the drug as part of complex therapy.
