Desacid

Desacid contains in 1 ml as active ingredients: gentamicin sulfate 4 mg, succinic acid 1 mg and excipients.

The drug is made in a form of a transparent colorless liquid.

Eye drops and intranasal.

Aminoglycosides in combinations.

The drug Desacid has a local bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect.

Gentamicin sulfate is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, active against most gram-negative and some gram-positive microorganisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Gentamicin sulfate does not act on anaerobic bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa. The mechanism of bactericidal effect of gentamicin is based on its binding to the 30S subunit of ribosomes of microbial cells and disrupts protein synthesis, preventing the formation of a complex of transport and matrix RNA. In high concentrations, it disrupts the barrier function of the cytoplasmic membrane and causes the death of microorganisms. Succinic acid is a regulator of tissue metabolism, stimulates cellular respiration, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

The drug Desacid, when instilled into the conjunctival cavity and intranasally, easily penetrates into the intraocular (internal) environments of the eye and nasal mucosa, providing a therapeutic level of active substances for several hours.

According to the degree of exposure to the organism, Desacid refers to low-risk substances. In recommended doses, it does not have a locally irritating and sensitizing effect.

Indications for use:

Desacid is used in cats and dogs as the treatment and preventive care in the following cases:

- acute and chronic conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis, iridocyclitis, dacryocystitis, septic corneal ulcers, and rhinitis;

- to eliminate secondary bacterial flora in the therapy of viral diseases of the eye and nose;

- sanitation and disinfection of wounds of the conjunctiva, eyelids, nasal planum, and passages;

- bacterial infections due to the trauma and foreign bodies in the eyes and nose;

Before use, the bottle with the drug should be thoroughly shaken. Next, make hygienic treatment of the area around the eyes and nose with a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of the drug.

For the treatment of acute and chronic bacterial diseases of the eyes and nose, to eliminate secondary bacterial microflora in the treatment of viral diseases, Desacid is instilled into the conjunctival cavity, both eyes, or in the nose, in both nasal passages, 3-4 times a day for 5-10 days in the doses indicated in the table:

To sanitize and disinfect wounds and conjunctiva, eyelids and nose wings, the damaged area is treated with a sterile gauze cloth moistened with a drug, 1 time a day, for 5-10 days.

In case of bacterial infections after injuries or ingestion of foreign bodies into the eyes and nose, the drug is instilled into the conjunctival cavity of the animal, in both eyes, in the nose, in both nasal passages, in the doses indicated in the table, 4 times a day for 3 days.

In case of bacterial infections of the eyes and nose before and after surgical interventions, the drug is used in the doses indicated in the table 3 times a day for 3-5 days.

With superficial dermatitis of the area around the eyes and nose of bacterial etiology, the affected surface is treated with a swab moistened with a small amount of the drug, 2-3 times a day, for 5-10 days.

The peculiarities of the drug's efffect during the first application and cancellation have not been established. If one or more doses are missed, the course of use of the drug should be resumed as soon as possible in the prescribed doses.

Side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with this instruction, as a rule, are not observed. With increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug and the manifestation of allergic reactions, its use is discontinued and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including in the anamnesis).

Symptoms of overdose in animals were not detected.

The use of the drug Desacid during pregnancy and lactation is carried out only under the supervision of a veterinarian. The drug is used for animals up to 1 year only under the supervision of a veterinarian.

There is no information about the incompatibility of the drug Desacid with drugs of other pharmacotherapeutic groups and feed additives.

The drug Desacid is not intended for use by food-producing animals.

Personal prevention measures:

When using a product, the general rules of personal hygiene and safety provided for when using drugs should be observed. At the end, wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. Empty packaging from under the drug is prohibited to be used for household purposes, it is subject to disposal with household waste. People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with it. In case of accidental contact of the drug with the skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they must be rinsed with plenty of water. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of the components of the drug into the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (take the instructions for use or label with you).

The unused drug is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

The drug Desacid is produced packaged in 10 ml in polymer dropper bottles, hermetically sealed with screw-on lids with the control of the first opening, packed in individual cardboard packs. Each consumer package is provided with instructions for use.

Store the drug in the original closed package, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 0 to +25°C.

The shelf life under storage conditions in the original closed package is 2 years from the manufacturing date. The drug is to be used within 25 days after the first opening of the primary package.

Do not use after the expiration date. Keep out of reach of children! It is released without a prescription from a veterinarian.
