PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

Fenpraz forte suspension, due to its combined composition, has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action against round and ribbon helminths, as well as protozoa of the genus giardia, parasitic in dogs and cats, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Taenia spp. Multiceps multiceps, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Giardia spp., as well as larval phases of development (microfilariae) Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens.

The mechanism of action of pyrantel pamoat consists in blocking neuromuscular transmission and violation of the permeability of cell membranes, inhibition of cholinesterase, which entails paralysis and death of the parasite.

The mechanism of action of praziquantel is based on the violation of glucose transport and microtubular function in helminths, inhibition of fumarate reductase activity and ATP synthesis, increased permeability of cell membranes and violation of muscle innervation, which leads to paralysis of the death of the parasite. Pyrantel pamoate and fenbendazole are partially absorbed into the intestine and excreted from the organism mainly with feces within 24-48 hours.

The mechanism of action of ivermectin, which is part of the drug, consists in its effect on the amount of chlorine ion current through the membranes of nerve and muscle cells of the parasite. The main target is glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite. The maximum concentration of ivermectin in blood plasma is noted 9 hours after oral administration. Ivermectin is excreted from the body mainly with bile, feces and partially with urine.

According to the degree of exposure to the organism, Fenpraz forte refers to low-risk substances, in recommended doses, it is well tolerated by dogs.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

Fenpraz forte suspension is given to the animal inside, once, individually, in the morning, at a dose of 1 ml per 4 kg of weight with a small amount of feed or forcibly poured into the cheek area using a syringe dispenser.

Before use, the bottle with the suspension must be thoroughly shaken. For therapeutic purposes, animals are dewormed according to indications, for preventive purposes – quarterly at the above dose. When deworming animals weighing less than 0.5 kg, immediately before use, 0.5 ml of boiled water is added to the measured dose of the suspension, thoroughly shaken and injected into the animal.

For the treatment of giardiasis, the drug is used in the same dosage, once a day, for 3 days. To reduce the number of circulating microfilariae in animals infected with Dirofaria immitis or Dirofilaria repens, the drug is prescribed once, once a month.

In order to prevent dirofilariasis, the suspension is used in the spring-summer-autumn period: once before the beginning of the summer of mosquitoes (March-April), then monthly from April to October, and for the last time in the season – 1 month after the end of the summer of mosquitoes (October-November).

It is also recommended to use the drug 10-14 days before vaccination or mating, 10 days before the expected delivery.

The peculiarities of the drug's action during its first use or cancellation were not revealed. Violations of the recommended timing of deworming of animals should be avoided In case of non-compliance with the established deadline for repeated treatments, the use of the drug should be resumed in the same dosage according to the same scheme. Before using the drug, a preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives before deworming is not required.
